Buying a Watch in Elbasan: Who You Are Actually Buying From

A reseller ships a sealed box and has no opinion about what is inside it, because nothing ever comes back for an opinion to form around.

So when we say a watch is worth the money, that is a judgement assembled out of repairs rather than out of a supplier's catalogue photograph. What That Changes for a Buyer in Elbasan

The Casio MTP-VD01 at 52 euro (4,800 L) is the cheap end done properly: stainless steel, black dial with luminous baton indices, date window at 3, 50m water resistance and a Japanese quartz movement. We can tell you what the movement is, which is more than most sellers at this price can say about their own stock.

The Romanson BH3054GBR at 74 euro (6,800 L) is the one a watchmaker points at. Swiss quartz, sapphire crystal glass, a rectangular gold-plated case and bracelet, sunburst dial with dot and bar markers, date display. Sapphire and a Swiss movement are the two things on a watch that most reliably resist the passing of years, and they are rarely found together at this price.

The Hislon Classic CL213S-02SS at 199 euro (18,400 L) is the dress watch at the top of our counter: fluted bezel, horizontal-stripe silver dial, sapphire crystal and a date window. Crystal replacement is one of the jobs we do most often on other people's watches, so we are unusually interested in which watches never need it.
